Blessing of the Hands
At work today they offered a service in the interfaith chapel called "Blessing of the Hands"
It sounded Catholic based but it was nothing like that
It was a very beautiful ceremony When you walked in there were candles lit and a circle of chairs
In the middle were about 20 various carvings, statues and pictures of hands of all kinds and colors
2 of the chaplains read all the different ways that various hands of everyone in the hospital work to minister to those who are in need from housekeeping to the surgeon
One of the chaplains reminded me of Maya Angelou
At the end you formed 2 lines and they held our hands and prayed for us
It was a touch of hands that reached the heart It was very intimate and very spiritual
"No other hands can touch in quite the same way as yours
Blessed are your hands to be instruments of healing, hope, and peace"
