Espy award heroes

Sometimes I become very "me" focused It's usually in response to some kind of pain whether it's physical, emotional,or spiritual. This week I'm dealing with all of them..but what I've been through doesn't even compare to two men I saw on the Espy awards tonight... Jim Maclaren and Emmanuel O. from Ghana Both men received the Arthur Ashe award
Jim Maclaren lost his leg and fought to come back and compete in the iron man triathalon If that wasn't enough ,8 years later while he was competing he was hit by a car and broke his neck which left him quadraplegic He again came back and fought to regain movement that doctors never thought he could accomplish What really struck me was the spirit he had and his impact on other athletes who deal with a handicap
One of those athletes is Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah Emmanuel was born with a deformed leg In Ghana when a child is born deformed, many times they are killed or are hidden until they are older, but are destined to a life of begging Emmanuel's mother instilled him a will to overcome his handicap He has now started a foundation to help others in Ghana who have a disability escape from the lifestyle of begging
If you didn't have a chance to watch the Espy awards, pull up the jim mclaren website There is a clip about what he's been through He is a true inspiration
It's also a reminder that nothing is impossible with God

"A hero is anyone who is intent on making this a better place to live" Jim Maclaren
