Carol Wolff 5 K walk/run

This morning my friend Tina and I did a walk for cancer called the Carol Wolff 5K walk/run. It's done yearly to raise money for cancer and part of the money goes to support The Artemis Center for Alternatives to Domestic Violence.
I did the walk 2 years ago with Kristen as a mother/daughter team.
The walk is done at Deweese Park in Dayton. It's a beautiful place to walk/run/ride bikes. They have a nice pathway and it's wooded and goes across the Little Miami. Wouldn't recommend going there at night ...not the nicest neighborhood around it.
They do such a great job in making you feel special even if you come in last place...I didn't come in last place :)
The men who belong to ORRRC(Ohio River Road Runners Club) dress up in shorts and little tuxedo tops and stand along the route giving encouragement.
They give everyone who participates a medal and have alot of nice raffle prizes (I won a pair of running shorts...Tina won an arm reflector) Cindy Garland and Deb and Gabe O'Keefe were there. They had a little race for the kids at the end ...Gabe came in 2nd :)
It was a nice way to spend a Sat morning and a good way to burn off calories.....even if we did eat at Frisch's after :)

It was fun - I enjoyed the company and the conversation. Look forward to next year - maybe we can go faster then!!! Tina
